A bonfire builder. They/them.

We've updated the playground to run the new "community" flavour of Bonfire, which includes the new groups and topics extensions (which are work in progress).

Hey friends! Please join the new test instance at <a href="https://campground.bonfire.cafe" target="_blank">https://campground.bonfire.cafe</a><p><br/></p><p>We also updated the website at <a href="https://bonfirenetworks.org" target="_blank"><a href="https://bonfirenetworks.org">bonfirenetworks.org</a></a> which hopefully explains the project a bit better </p><p><br/></p><p>While the playground was about experimenting with the UX and all the different features and extensions in the works, the campground only has the core and social extensions enabled while we focus on stabilising them (incl. federation) before a v1.0 release.</p><p><br/></p><p>(We'll come back on the playground and the other features soon, don't worry!)</p><p><br/></p><p><a href="https://indieweb.social/@bonfire/109809198596802420">indieweb.social/<span class="h-card"><a class="u-url mention" data-user="@bonfire" href="https://playground.bonfire.cafe/pub/actors/bonfire" rel="ugc">@bonfire</a></span>/109...</a></p>

There's nothing like the joy of seeing a brand new error when debugging something.

On the other hand looking at logs, it looks like bonfire is <em>not</em> making HTTP requests when navigating between liveviews...

Or maybe we can use boundaries to filter only those I have permission to assign to. Which would mean needing to set a reasonable default for that, and add a way to edit the boundaries of a user.

We could make the icons used configurable, but in view of having good defaults, does anyone have suggestions? We can choose from this set of 100,000+ icons: <a href="https://icon-sets.iconify.design">icon-sets.iconify.design</a>

🎺 Just updated the playground. New goodies include:<ul><li>A basic coordination app</li><li>An updated layout and navigation incl. an app switcher </li><li>Many fixes & tweaks (and a few remaining broken things on our to-do list)</li></ul><p><br/></p><p>An [incomplete] changelog as always is available at <a href="https://playground.bonfire.cafe/terms/changelog">playground.bonfire.cafe/term...</a></p>

The <span class="h-card"><a class="u-url mention" data-user="+bonfire" href="https://playground.bonfire.cafe/pub/actors/bonfire" rel="ugc">+bonfire</a></span> playground has been updated with a few fixes and improvements. My new favourite screen is this one which feels like a forum focused on your interests: <a href="https://playground.bonfire.cafe/topics/followed">playground.bonfire.cafe/topi...</a>

The playground has been upgraded with a few fixes and improvements, some of which are listed on the <a href="https://playground.bonfire.cafe/terms/changelog" target="_blank">changelog</a>... Feedback welcome as always!

+facebook_is_better_than_bonfire boundaries and circles are integrated in topics, so you were able to add this sub-topic because the parent topic has open boundaries (public), but you can create topics where only some circles can publish (in which case things they tag end up in the Submitted tab and don't appear in the feeds of topic followers) or create sub-topics, etc

Opportunity for anyone who may be interested in learning how to program Elixir (the main language in Bonfire): <a href="https://twitter.com/thejuliams/status/1552271641304088578?t=2wZU4bqEXWYftklPGHN-gQ&s=19">twitter.com/thejuliams/statu...</a>

The playground has been upgraded with a few tweaks plus an initial release of the topics functionality. Keen to see how you all use it! We need to add some docs, but in the meantime you should know you can tag a topic in a post by using + for a mention instead of @, so for example <span class="h-card"><a class="u-url mention" data-user="+bonfire" href="https://playground.bonfire.cafe/pub/actors/bonfire" rel="ugc">+bonfire</a></span> <span class="h-card"><a class="u-url mention" data-user="+fediverse" href="https://playground.bonfire.cafe/pub/actors/fediverse" rel="ugc">+fediverse</a></span>

👋 Hello, <span class="h-card"><a class="u-url mention" data-user="@ivan" href="https://playground.bonfire.cafe/pub/actors/ivan" rel="ugc">@ivan</a></span> and I would like to share with you our application for the next round of the nlnet user operated fund: <a href="https://nlnet.nl/useroperated/" target="_blank">https://nlnet.nl/useroperated/</a><p><br/></p><p>tl;dr we want to implement groups on bonfire, based on the work we did with boundaries and circles: <a href="https://hackmd.io/BlYSKmlcSk2yn_iAxS-DLA?view">hackmd.io/BlYSKmlcSk2yn_iAxS...</a> </p><p><br/></p><p>Any feedback is more than welcome 🔥 (deadline is tomorrow, so we are quite tight with timing unfortunately)</p>
