This sounded like an interesting idea, simple, but i'm not sure Ive come across it before.I havent thought it through much and possibly activitypub wouldn't play nice? Still thought bonfire folks may be interestedyou should be able to delete their replies. Maybe the toot would still exist on their profile, but it’d be completely severed from your original toot so your followers don’t have to see it.https://social.coop/@yerald/109407348453747373#bonfire_feedback+safety

Having worked on a lot of projects with low/no budget, particularly at their beginning, I wonder if a good 'solidarity' support structure could be designed?

Im thinking free to get going, with some explanation of resources required to keep it going and requests for contributions.

Maybe some easy way for the hoster to have good visibility into resource usage and to trigger requests - that could optionally go out to the instance 'admin' and/or their users (give the admin some choices)

Also have some clearly defined streams for regular contributions where you may then avoid requests

I was in my 30's when Max Headroom debuted as a series in the U.S. Like the world of this video essay, I saw more promise than was ultimately realized but always harbored a fond memory of the things about Max Headroom that worked, even if they were never used to their greatest effect. With today's tech and a greater clarity of satiric intent I believe Max Headroom could effectively satirize the current moment...On Max Headroom: The Most Misunderstood Joke On TV

I come back to an open tab on my browser (android chromium) after some days. I need to login again. Try and login with my user name and password. Try and login wifh user name and password and get a "Not allowed Invalid CSRF token" fail screenI goto the playground bonfire home page and try again and see the second error message. Finally i succeed by using me email address rather than user name (i was using @ at beginning of user name)(Trying to repost this without the attached images, Ill add them to the next post, as I couldn't see the post button with them attached - also the X to cancel the post didnt work or the delete attachments so i had to reload to be able to write a new post)

I wonder about using the description metadata field (XMP-dc:Description) tag.I think this is starting to get used, shown to users an editable field, in the smartphone image/video Gallery apps from both Apple and Google..I managed to get someone working on a new open source Gallery app to add it to their app. Theres not yet been a release since it was added https://github.com/Lmh170/Android-Gallery-App

@dajbelshaw @barefoot_doc @mayel just had a bit of a browse around (home & local timeline, feeds in peoples profiles) and feeds were all loading within a couple of seconds for me. Went to local timeline and it took noticeably longer to load. Tapping to load the conversation and it was quicker again.

Looking at the local timeline it doesnt appear anyone else is posting - so Im guessing its not currently in heavy use?

☕ Currently reading: https://botpopuli.net/transforming-digital-platforms-for-the-people-and-planet/"Exploring the paradox of social movements utilizing monopolized social media to promote messages of global justice while examining the means by which activists and the larger public can shift to freer and fairer options.Monopolistic digital platforms have taken over our daily lives, which directly impacts the way social movements and civil societies build networks and solidarities across borders. The use of social media as tools for communication, messaging, advocacy, and even mobilization during crucial political moments (e.g., Black Lives Matter, Colombian, and Chilean collective risings) undercuts these platforms’ exploitation and commodification of their users. Most activists use social media platforms to raise awareness and amplify messages among large populations. Thus, the immediate dilemma faced by activists is either remaining subsumed and, in a way, contributing to the vicious exploitation of collective data, or losing a wider audience. This quandary can be addressed by using mainstream media while promoting a transition towards autonomous platforms that are designed and operate to put the well-being of people first."

Just realised it disappears if you tap somewhere on the screen outside the menu box, other than the icon to open the menu. One trouble is tapping most places on the screen loads a different page. I kind of expected tapping on the icon that opened the menu would close it. Better still menu would disappear once you tap on an option within it. Better still both of these would work

I had some problems signing up, every attempt was getting refused, i think maybe because i went onto the sign up page some hours prior to actually attempting to sign up, used my phone for other stuff and then returned to the sign up page?(Sorry I forget the error message I was getting) Got around this by leaving the signup page and navigating to it again.

Also found that going into my password manager and returning to the page reset the page. Just wanted to sign up quick without risking more friction.

My browser also has chrome://flags/#enable-tab-groups enabled by default which was covering the bottom of the screen (I had bonfire open as a tab in a group) and may be playing into this a bit? Initially I could see the yellow button. Later could see just the very top sticking out from behind the tab group bar, later it vanished. Just saw similar with the edit profile screen and the yellow button at the bottom of that
