Yeah we're definitely looking into how to resolve the slowdown 🤞 Thanks for all your testing so far!
A bonfire builder. They/them.

I'm confused.
I haven't clicked <Share feedback> at all so, no, not that one. But is there a composer in the sidebar? Not in my sidebar, i think.
The only composer I've seen - writing a new post or replying to one - is a damn big one that occupies far more screen than it needs to do - 50% of the browser window area - with acres of white space, running down to the bottom of the browser window ( meaning that the drop-down menu on the <Public> button runs off the bottom of the window and is unreadable and inaccessible - if anything in fact lives there in the drop-down, apart from 'Public').
I would be very satisfied with a small composer in a sidebar, similar to Mastodon.
btw, what's the character limit on a post? Are they limitless? O dear 🙄
Oh, are you on mobile?
links in posts
I have a suggestion for Bonfire: it seems URLs are not turned into links unless they're at the start of a line? in any case, it doesn't happen consistently...

"Exploring the paradox of social movements utilizing monopolized social media to promote messages of global justice while examining the means by which activists and the larger public can shift to freer and fairer options.
Monopolistic digital platforms have taken over our daily lives, which directly impacts the way social movements and civil societies build networks and solidarities across borders. The use of social media as tools for communication, messaging, advocacy, and even mobilization during crucial political moments (e.g., Black Lives Matter, Colombian, and Chilean collective risings) undercuts these platforms’ exploitation and commodification of their users. Most activists use social media platforms to raise awareness and amplify messages among large populations. Thus, the immediate dilemma faced by activists is either remaining subsumed and, in a way, contributing to the vicious exploitation of collective data, or losing a wider audience. This quandary can be addressed by using mainstream media while promoting a transition towards autonomous platforms that are designed and operate to put the well-being of people first."
There are many different views from which I can write a post. Now I am replying to your post from my notifications. When I hit "Post" I'm not seeing my post in context, I just get a Toast with a link to it.
Same from the main timeline view, and the /write view.
after I push the "post" button, instead of showing me the result of my labor, bonfire shows a toast message with a link that would lead me there.
My sense is that posting something should show me what I sent out into the world immediately, as others will see it.
Definitely, yes. Please put us back into the feed after we post.
are you talking specifically about using the page at /write (like when you click share feedback)? or also the composer in the sidebar?
For LibreWolf users, please, can somebody check if in the profile page or any user (i.e. https://playground.bonfire.cafe/@ivan) you see the avatars like the one in the image?.
I don't have many extensions on librewolf but on Firefox the problem doesn't show so it could be just me.

Hello Ivan, thank you for the Welcome! Here's my #bonfilre_feedback
Nice:
To improve:
That's all for now, really enjoying the new effort.
I'll start by just commenting on things you may have missed:
Yes, but I have to admit that I didn't record the exact error ... I would say that my validation code was no longer valid at the time of submission, and then I tried to re-generate one without changing the registration TOP code... Sorry I wasn't very conscientious about evaluating the error.
But finally, I found it confusing to have to create this two-factor authentication directly on the account creation form ... From an interface point of view, it might be more smooth to provide it on a second step, maybe after email confirmatinon page ?
Yeah that's a good point, I wanted to experiment with it being part of the signup flow rather than a power-user thing hidden in settings that only a minority would look for and enable. But yeah after email confirmation may make sense.
Hi, just testin' here! Looks great!
ran into an error when I tried to delete a root post. deleting a comment to that post seemed to work fine though
I have a suggestion for Bonfire:

there’s currently no visual indicator that something is working in the background to load more posts, or make a post, after clicking the relevant button. It leaves a few seconds of wondering whether the tap/click registered.

two-factor authentication
I had a problem with two-factor authentication (using Bitwarden as OTP) when creating my account. So I created my account without thinking that I could activate it later. But I can't find the option to activate the double authentication in my settings

curious what issue you had? was there an error?
wondering if you were referring to this or just a plain textarea to inject any kind of css into the platform ?

When you're browsing a timeline (e.g. the local instance) and you get a notification (e.g. new follow) the feed disappears until you clear the notification.
Hello there
and maybe enabling horizontal scroll? maybe combined with a way to "full screen" the thread like we can do for compose?
