first thing that went wrong is I set my username to waké to test out whether bonfire supported Unicode in names or not (it should!) and when I pressed enter it saved a username that never typed in

Of course, degrading communication in such a manner degrades social mobility; blaming or rewarding a child for their "grades" in an exercise (in which they're supposed to do mistakes, that's how we learn things!) brings down poor children and narrows down their possibilities to the most essential, less paid jobs (like construction, the food supply chain, and so on).
Spreading NVC is an action against oppression.
How many online "communities" would be better described as online "associations"?
Community should be distinguished from association. The distinction is fundamentally one of commitment and identity. Associations, even while they provide their own form of social glue, make little claim on our loyalties and at best make minor contributions to our identities.

Giphy is one of those sites that does something dodgy where what looks like the URL to image file (see the .gif extension) actually serves you an HTML page if you visit it directly. If you use the URL of the page the gif is on though, oembed should allow us to pull it in: giphy.com/gifs/tongue-goodni...
Did you try pasting the screenshot image? In which case this should fix that in the next release: github.com/bonfire-networks/...

Absolument, mais aussi plus "cher" en termes de savoir-faire, de temps, de choix et d'approvisionnement en ingrédients (surtout si on continue la métaphore et qu'on fait pousser soi-même les tomates, etc.).
I have a suggestion for Bonfire:
Using boundaries for multi-language support? Posting memes in English, opinions in French, etc., so people get to choose which language(s) they prefer to read, instead of setting your language(s) in stone, i.e. in your profile.
You could totally use circles and boundaries to post things to a subset of your followers based on the languages they know, though I think it'll be worth adding a seperate feature to indicate the language of a post, and to be able to filter your own feed based on language(s).

In response to several feedbacks related to the general layout and the composer experience, we prepared a few mockups to highlight some UX improvements we'd like to discuss with you.
Main feedbacks gravitated around the possibility to have as much space as possible for the main content view, a clearer navigation menu and clear distinction between navigation and widgets sections.
Looking at the near future, we tried also to imagine how to organize the space in the navigation sidebar to have enough space for groups and lists.
In particular, we spent some time thinking at an altenative UX to compose a post. This is for different reasons:
- We're working on flexible boundaries / lists - and a dropdown is not enough to let the user work with such granular permissions levels
- We want to have a composer box that incentivate also toughtful posts, not just toots/tweets
- We want to have a unique composer box that works in any situation (actual fullscreen mode is buggy)
- We still want to be able to compose a post while scrolling the feed or reading through the comments in a thread
- The composer box should not be always visible on the page, but it should be 1-click away to start composing a post (with keyboard shortcut also)
- The user should be able to work on different drafts
I have a suggestion for Bonfire: this one is such a tiny thing, but... the emoji in the top-right corner of the compose window is from a different emoji set to the (much better!) ones you can actually choose from in the picker. I'd ideally like them to match! 😂

I have a suggestion for Bonfire:
The Android UX could be improved. I’m not frustrated at all, but Android suspends my browser after about 15 minutes, so when this happens I lose every draft I’ve started.
Of course I use my clipboard to avoid this. FYI, Pinafore saves drafts in internal storage so even if my phone/computer rebooted, it would retrieve them locally. I don’t know if it would be easy to tweak with the Bonfire codebase, I tend to guess it would, but I have zero experience in development.
Having some trouble posting attachments post button disappears off screen if I add descriptions

Two issues have been solved and will be available in the next release:
Luckily a contributor is working on that, see github.com/bonfire-networks/...
But other attempts to REPLY and WRITE have failed with seemingly the same error. The common factor may have been refeences outside th Bonfire playground sandbox. Like, to fediverse identitites like Bonfire AT indeweb.
Don't have more time to diagnose, apologies, must go.
